Why is a chromosome with two centromeres (a dicentric chromosome) unstable?

Most likely, both centromeres would want to attach the mitotic spindle, distributing the forces in a asymetric way. My guess is that Aurora B would not be able to phosphorylate the centromere properly and the spindle checkpoint would become activated. You end up with arrest in metaphase or Anaphase A
