Why did my power steering go out on my 1990 for bronco?

Because the vehicle is 20 years old. Any vehicle that old is bound to have things like power steering go out. Your PS pump is probably bad. Did you notice a loud whining noise that increases in pitch with the engine rpm? That was your PS pump on its last leg... or last few rotations rather. Replace the pump, you should be fine.
